Spintronic : electrical control of a molecular magnet

New in spintronics, the discipline begun by Albert Fert, 2007 Nobel Prize winner in physics: for the first time researchers in Grenoble from CNRS and Université Joseph Fourier and Institut Néel (CNRS) succeeded in passing a single fullerene molecule (C60) in a magnetic stat to a nonmagnetic state by applying electrical tension. The results, which were published May 29, 2008, on the Nature journal web site, could help in creating memory for quantum information and giving breaking down capacities (notably for hard drives) during miniaturization.
