Travelling proteins, regulators of cerebral plasticity

The laboratoire Développement et évolution du système nerveux (CNRS/Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris), led by Alain Prochiantz, professor at the Collège de France, in collaboration with Japanese and American laboratories (Professeur Takao Hensch), has shown that the plasticity of the visual cerebral cortex depends on the passage of a homeopretein between different cells. This discovery is particularly important because this mechanism could concern more than 200 proteins in the same family. These results are published in the August 8 issue of Cell.
