Researchers at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, in collaboration with the Institut Pasteur in Lille, have analyzed in children the effects of a pertussis vaccine on the bacteria responsible for that illness. Their findings emphasize the importance of continually learning more about whooping cough at the microbiological level so as to adapt vaccine strategies.
