INRAE :
INRAE is the world’s number-one institute for research in the fields of agriculture, food, and the environment. The institute is more committed than ever to finding solutions to the challenges caused by global changes and to helping fully manage the resulting transitions.
Food security, nutrition security, agricultural transitions, the preservation of natural resources, the restoration of biodiversity, risk prediction and management, a comprehensive approach to health, the protection of food regionality… These are all issues of concern in INRAE’s quest to sustainably transform agricultural, food, and environmental systems. Drawing upon the rich and diverse work of its research teams, the institute aims to generate new knowledge and novel solutions.
INRAE 2030:
Upon its creation, INRAE adopted an innovative approach to collectively define its strategic priorities, a project called INRAE 2030. The roadmap presents the strategic orientations which will guide INRAE’s activities in the coming years. It looks ahead to 2030 while being based on immediate actions or actions which are already underway in order to propose solutions which will be progressively put into place. INRAE 2030 is divided into 5 major
scientific priorities:
INRAE in North America:
INRAE collaborates with the Mission for Science and Technology to strengthen its relationships with research laboratories and academic institutes in North America.
Its ambition is to address challenges that transcend geographical and sectoral boundaries, in partnership with its counterparts in the United States and Canada, using research, innovation, and support for public policies along with research instruments. These approaches must be interdisciplinary, encompassing the three foundational pillars of food, agriculture, and the environment to integrate their interactions.
Cooperation instruments with the United States and Canada:
INRAE has co-signed several framework agreements with its North American partners, and structures its partnerships worldwide using three types of instruments that the Institute financially supports:
These structuring instruments and our framework agreements support projects led with several of our partners in North America, including Agriculture and AgriFood Canada, McGill University, USDA-ARS, University of California Berkeley, University of California Davis, University of Florida, Michigan State University and others to come.
INRAE is also involved in the implementation of PPI (international priority program), or international research initiative which provides resources to accelerate the coordination of research on priority themes (water, forest, One Health Microbiome, soils and climate change).
