A public scientific and technological establishment (EPST) since 1981, Cemagref is under the joint supervision of the Ministry for Research and the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.

**Missions

Cemagref is a public research institute whose work focuses on sustainable development in non-urban areas. It contributes to the conservation and acceptable management of land and water systems, the prevention of associated risks and the development of sustainable economic activity .

Addressing complex systems and their interactions with human society, our research needs an interdisciplinary approach. As well as advancing fundamental knowledge, Cemagref develops scientific expertise capacities and innovative technologies.
